On October 12, Shinobu Kawato, SOMEC's former president and now adviser to its board, delivered a lecture on "History of Ship Building Industry in Japan" at Japan Shipping Exchange (JSE). The lecture was given as part of celebratory seminars held to commemorate JSE's 90th anniversary. [Nov/17/2011]
SOMEC appointed its former director and ex-Piraeus office general manager Hisao Nishimoto as General Manager of Piraeus office again to replace Satoru Matsushita, who will rejoin SOMEC's new building team at Tokyo Headquarter in November. Nishimoto also serves as SOMEC's General Manger for Europe. [Oct/25/2011]
SOMEC's new ERP system, nicknamed "Smartkit", is now officially in full-scale operation. The new system is based on the industry-standard SAP ERP and expected to improve the management efficiency in SOMEC. [Aug/31/2011]
At international exhibition NOR-SHIPPING 2011, SOMEC provided general assistance to the participants from Japan as the official cordinator designated by the industries. [June/22/2011]
