SOMEC funnel markThe ship-owning business of Sojitz group started in 1963 when Kokusai Kisen Kabushiki Kaisha was established. Ever since, we have been keeping our own fleet and built up solid know-how and expertises in this field. Today, as a highly experienced ship manager providing a complete range of integrated marine service, SOMEC manages and/or operates the vessels for our own customers as well as Sojitz group of companies.

Management staff has profound experience in all aspects of the ship management, general marine engineering, accounting, crewing and operations management. We also offer technical services, including newbuilding supervision, drawing approval and general consulting. In office, at shipyard or at sea, the commitment to maintaining the high standard of safety and environmental protection is the most important part of our business.

58,000tdw Panamax Bulker Completed at Tsuneishi Cebu (THI)

A 58,000tdw new building handymax owned by Sojitz Group of companies, was completed at Tsuneishi Group's Cebu works and named "Solar Africa" on March 17. The vessel, now in SOMEC's managed fleet list, is engaged in long-term time charter to a Korean operator. [April/06/2011]

Osaka and Onomichi Staffs Visited PORT ALICE

As part of employees' training program, 13 young staffs working at SOMEC's Osaka and Onomichi branches visited m.v. PORT ALICE during drydocking at Onomichi Zosen to see and touch the "real" ship and machineries at work. [June/21/2010]

Younger Employees and Staffs of Administration Teams Visited FORTUNE EXPRESS

As part of employees' training program, 12 people, including young employees, staffs of various administrative teams, and some from our clients, visited m.v. FORTUNE EXPRESS at Tokyo Port. They learnt onboard what a bulk carrier is and how it works. [Jan/15/2010]

Another Panamax Joined SOMEC's managed fleet

A 83,000tdw new building panamax owned by Sojitz Group of companies, was completed at Sanoyas and named "Atlantic Legend". SOMEC provides management service for the ship. [Mar/25/2009]
